Supportive Services for Veterans and their Families
Funding from the Department of Veterans Affairs has been made available through the Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) Program to a partnership between the local Economic Opportunity Authority, The Augusta Warrior Project, and Goodwill Industries of Middle GA & the CSRA. This program provides supportive services to very low-income Veteran families in or transitioning to permanent housing. The goal is to promote housing stability for those eligible.
The ideology is to assist families transitioning from homelessness to permanent housing and prevent at-risk families from becoming homeless. The Super Coordinator of the Augusta Warrior Project will accept the referral of the Veteran family and determine eligibility. The partnership will meet with the applicant to discuss the plan for creating the stability and determining what is needed to achieve this. The partnership services include outreach, case management, and assistance in obtaining benefits. GW provides the following:
- Job search assistance
- Job Placement Opportunities
- Workshops for Job Search Skills
