Goodwill Mentor Volunteers

  • Provided 4 hours of training prior to starting their service with Goodwill.
  • Introduced to their mentee by Goodwill staff and then meet once per week to provide guidance and encouragement to their mentee.
  • Given the satisfaction of knowing one of our clients, employees, or students on a 1:1 basis and helping them be successful in their career.
  • Eligible to participate in Goodwill's Corporate University training.
  • Invited to semi-annual Match Events to experience following and the sharing of ideas.
  • Mentors are needed throughout Middle Georgia, the Lake Oconee Area and the CSRA.

Goodwill Job Connection Guide Volunteers

  • Provided 1 hour of training prior to starting their service with Goodwill.  Guides receive ongoing training for the first month by sitting in on sessions with an experienced Guide, learning more about the type of assistance job seekers are looking for and the resources that are available.
  • Asked to identify a 2 hour block of time that they are available each week to work with clients at one of the Job Connection Centers
  • Given the satisfaction of knowing many of our clients on a 1:1 basis and helping them be successful in their career search
  • Job Connection Centers are located in Macon, Warner Robins, Lake Oconee Area, Augusta and Aiken.

Goodwill Academic Achievement Center Tutor

  • Provided 1 hour of training prior to starting their service with Goodwill.  Volunteers receive ongoing training for the first month by sitting in on sesions with the staff at the Academic Achievement Center, learning more about the tutoring programs and the resources that are available.
  • Asked to identify a minimum of 1 hour block of time that they are available each week to tutor Goodwill trainees, students and employees at the Academic Achievement Center.
  • Given the satisfaction of knowing many of our clients on a 1:1 basis and helping them achieve their goal of obtaining a GED or improvement of basic Math or English skills.
  • Academic Achievement Centers are located  in Macon, Augusta and Aiken.

Other volunteer opportunities at Goodwill

  • Goodwill offers a variety of other volunteer opportunities with either short or long-term commitments.
  • Retial Stores Volunteers may help sort and process donations, put items in the store, colorize clothing or help with the donation door.
  • Hire Grounds Cafe - Book lovers are a wonderful help to our staff in the Hire Grounds Cafe.
  • Life Skills Classes - Goodwill offers several basis life skills classes for their clients and is looking for individuals to help teach these classes.
  • Donation Drives - Community donation drives are a great way to give back to the mission of Goodwill.  Volunteers can organize a donation drive at their local school, church, workplace or neighborhood. 
  • Corporate Volunteers - Does your workplace support volunteerism?  Goodwill can provide a wonderful setting for a one day group project or on-going volunteer opportunities.
  • Group projects - Goodwill welcomes volunteer groups so keep us in mind the next time you are looking for something for a school, church or business group.
  • Special Events - Each year Goodwill needs volunteers to help with special events that give back to the community and raise funds for Goodwill's programs.  Special events include:  Annual Goodwill Gala, reNew&Brew and GoodBoats Dragon Boat Festival.
