A seasonal message from Goodwill President James K. Stiff
Poverty hits families hard during the Christmas season. A good-paying job, a meaningful career, tops the wish list of many mothers and fathers who want to not only provide seasonal gifts for their children, but also a lifestyle that meets and transcends basic needs.
Imagine a world of 100 percent employment.
Goodwill Industries won’t rest until every person is lifted out of poverty and into prosperity.
Goodwill is a 501(c)3 charity that works so people can find employment and career advancement. A holiday gift to Goodwill is guaranteed to make a lasting difference in the lives of people who live right here in our community, in the lives of our own neighbors.
While the most visible part of Goodwill is our retail training stores and donation centers, a core part of Goodwill is in our Helms College post-secondary educational programs and our career services provided through seven regional Job Connection locations.
More than 86 cents of every dollar of revenue from retail store sales and other social enterprise is invested in our mission.
Thanks to support from friends like you, last year Goodwill helped place nearly 6,000 people in our area into good jobs and gain access to career advancement, unlocking the gate that once stood in the way of the American dream.
You support Goodwill by donating money, clothing, and household items; shopping at our upscale resale stores; dining at Edgar’s; enjoying our professional conference venues; and by volunteering.
Expansion plans are underway to help the growing number of people who need Goodwill’s hand-up services. I invite you to read about Goodwill’s 2020 Strategic Plan and other information on our website demonstrating Goodwill’s work.
Please let me know if you’d like to learn more about our life-changing mission, tour the Goodwill Macon or Augusta campuses of Helms College, or learn how your gift can help build lives, families and communities, one career at a time.
Grace and goodwill to you,
James K. Stiff
