Goodwill expands service to Milledgeville with Job Connection, donation center

Goodwill Industries of Middle Georgia and the CSRA is pleased to announce the expansion of its career services offered to residents of the Milledgeville area with the upcoming opening of a new Job ConnectionSM and donation drive-through.

Currently under renovation at 2596 North Columbia St., in the center adjacent to Walmart, the location will provide full Job Connection career assistance services, employment and business assistance opportunities through Goodwill Staffing Service, and a convenient Goodwill donation drive-through. During construction, an attended Goodwill donation truck is accepting donations at the site from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday-Saturday, and noon to 6 p.m. on Sundays.

The new facility is expected to open in January 2017, with a ribbon-cutting and open house set for 9 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 12, in cooperation with the Milledgeville-Baldwin County Chamber of Commerce.

“We’re grateful for the opportunity to expand Goodwill’s ‘hand-up’ services to the citizens of the Milledgeville area, with support from the community’s donations,” said James K. Stiff, President of Goodwill Industries of Middle Georgia and the CSRA. “With the Job Connection and donation center in the same building, each visitor will be able to see their donated pair of jeans or household goods turn into employment opportunities for more Middle Georgia residents.”

Employment services are a key part of Goodwill’s mission of providing job training and career development assistance, and during the past five years Goodwill Industries of Middle Georgia and the CSRA has served nearly 100,000 individuals, placing nearly 18,000 in competitive employment and creating an estimated payroll economic impact of more than $450 million.
