Calling all shoppers, thrifters, and treasure hunters! August 17th is National Thrift Shop Day, and there’s no better place to celebrate than Goodwill of Middle Georgia and the CSRA. This year, we’re going all out to thank our incredible donors and shoppers who make our mission possible.
Special Events to Thank Our Community
We’re hosting a two-day appreciation event at all 18 of our retail training stores. Mark your calendars for these dates:
- August 16: All clothing with red tags will be available for just $0.99.
- August 17: Expand your hunt! All clothing, housewares, shoes, and linens with red tags will be $0.99.
These special promotions are exclusive to Goodwill of Middle Georgia & the CSRA locations and do not include new goods or special-priced items.
Your Contributions, Their Transformations
Your support goes beyond finding unique, affordable vintage items. When you shop or donate to Goodwill, you help extend the life of usable items and fund vital community services. Here’s the impact we made together in 2023:
- 10,202 clients served
- 3,759 individuals were placed into competitive employment
- 14,344 workdays provided through Goodwill Staffing Services
- 348,956 employment hours for individuals with disabilities
- 24,717 hours of funded training for employees
- 267 students enrolled at Helms College
- 142 Helms College graduates
- 130 Helms Career Education program graduates
Economic Impact
The economic benefits of your contributions are substantial:
- $204.8 million economic impact in Middle GA and the CSRA
- $97.8 million in wages earned by clients placed outside of Goodwill
- $30 million in wages earned by employees and clients employed by Goodwill
- $38.7 million in total income and payroll taxes paid by employees, clients, and Goodwill
- $2.6 million in total sales tax collected
- $35.7 million in government assistance savings
