Helms in the News: Vossenberg named Southeastern Chef Educator of the Year

When you take culinary arts courses at Helms College, you know you’re learning from award-winning culinary educators—like culinary instructor Peter Vossenberg.

Vossenberg was recently featured in the Augusta Chronicle for receiving the 2018 Southeastern Chef Educator of the Year award. Presented by the American Culinary Federation, the award pays tribute to an active culinary educator whose knowledge, skills and expertise have enhanced the image of the professional chef, and who, by example, has given leadership, guidance and direction to students seeking a career in the culinary profession. The award also honors those who demonstrate the ability to help students define and develop their careers by using their skills and abilities to provide a strong foundation for their future success.

Vossenberg is a Navy veteran and the executive chef for Edgar’s Grille, where Helms College students receive experiential learning opportunities through service. His wife, chef Kathleen Vossenberg, is the culinary education director at Helms and won the same award in 2016.
